5:00 pm EST – Rights & Regulations: A Legal Look at an Autonomous Future
Three lawyers participated on a panel discussing rights and regulations when it comes to an autonomous future at AutoMobili-D, part of the 2017 NAIAS.
With Glenn Stevens of MICHAuto moderating, Patrick Seyferth, a partner at Bush Seyferth & Paige PLLC; Tom Manganello, partner at Warner Norcross & Judd; and Jennifer Dukarski, an attorney with Butzel Long, gave their perspective about the legal landscape that is ahead of a future being written to deal with autonomous driving.
Privacy rights for the data that will be created in an autonomous world is just one legal issue that will need to be considered, but so is dealing with the impact of decisions that will ultimately be made by software compared with human decisions.
While there are certainly differences of opinion, what is certain is that these issues will arise, the only major decision being how will they play out in a real-life situation.
The discussion continues.
