2:00 pm EST – The Future of Mobility is in Kindergarten: Inspiring Tomorrow’s Talent Today
Karl Klimek, Executive Director of the Square One Education Network, was on hand for a presentation at AutoMobili-D as part of the 2017 NAIAS in which he challenged an audience to “be inspired” by the work the non-profit is doing to engage teachers and students, not only starting at kindergarten but well into high school.
“This is transformational,” said Klimek of the work the organization is doing with schools throughout the area and beyond. “It’s something that becomes a significant disruptor when we develop the talent that’s otherwise overlooked
Clearly, some of the students that are impacted by Square One Education Network’s work will become engineers, one of the professions that is growing value in industry, a jobs multiplier that some say may be account for eight new jobs for every graduating engineer.
Sharing in the presentation was a Square One Education Network collaborator, Jeff DeBoer, who heads the Michigan Design Council in addition to his role as vice president of Genesis Innovation Strategy at Sundberg-Ferar, a product innovation studio. As part of his remarks, DeBoer announced the 2017 Michigan Design Prize Challenge:
“Design a physical product solution to help people safely enjoy Michigan winters.”
