Over 400 Detroit Public Schools pre-K students will soon head to NAIAS for the 9th Annual “PNC Grow Up Great Day” on Thursday, Jan. 24, a day filled with hands-on educational activities designed to spark the imagination of the very youngest in our community.
The special day at the NAIAS is part of PNC Grow Up Great®, a $350 million, multi-year, bilingual initiative to promote early childhood education. A wide range of hands-on educational activities will be part of the preschoolers’ visit to the show, including a focus on science, technology, reading, engineering and mathematics (STREAM).
With everything from a coloring contest to a car-building project to Walkaround Elmo from Sesame Street®, “PNC Grow Up Great Day” encourages youngsters to learn about automobiles and the auto show in an entertaining and engaging way.
Pincy, the lovable canine created by NAIAS and PNC Grow Up Great® to foster an interest in cars at an early age, will be part of the students’ visit to the auto show. A copy of “Pincy’s Auto Show Adventures” and a stuffed animal version of the dog will be given to each student as a souvenir from the show.
