Organized by the Michigan Fitness Foundation and the Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness Health and Sports, the annual Auto Show 5K celebrates the city’s rich automotive history and physical activity opportunities. The course winds participants through Detroit, along the Dequindre Cut and ends just in time for the opening of the North American International Auto Show.
Runners receive a long sleeve T-shirt and a finisher’s medal. Proceeds from the race will fund physical activity, nutrition and health programs throughout the state through the Michigan Fitness Foundation.
Starting at the DNR Outdoor Adventure Center at 8:30 am, the route will be along the Dequindre Cut, ending in time for the opening of the Public Show. Registration is $32 through January 19, or $35 on race day. Awards will be given to the top three “masters” male and female winners, and top three overall male and female winners.
