Air Mobility Experience

Bringing science fiction to reality over the skies of Detroit and Windsor, the “Air Mobility Experience” at the Detroit Auto Show will be a “Show Above the Show.” Featuring flight demonstrations and displays by six mobility companies originating from five countries, this new addition to the auto show will take place over the Detroit River, in Hart Plaza and Huntington Place.


From electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft to amphibious sport planes to hoverboards and jet suits, show visitors will get a taste of the future, today. Flight demonstrations will take place outside on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 17-18, with air mobility displays and experiences featured inside Huntington Place throughout the duration of the show.

Bronco Mountain

Bronco & EV Ride Registration & Guidelines:  

Rides will only be given to guests that have registered and meet the height requirements (44” or 3’6”).  

Rides are for the vehicle in the queue, (Bronco, Mach-E or Lightning).  

VIP line available for guests sent an email, or brought up by a stand manager, producer or executive.  *NOTE* VIP’s WILL be able to choose what vehicle they prefer to ride in and will be the next in line when vehicle is available.

Camp Jeep

Since its inception in 2005, more than 532,000 people have taken test rides in various Jeep Vehicles on the Camp Jeep® test track, getting a glimpse at multiple off-road features that they may not commonly experience in everyday driving. The interactive test track has been a favorite place for auto show attendees and this year will be no exception. The track is bigger and steeper and features a mountain that is 28’ tall – 10 feet taller than previous years - with 45 degree approach / departure angles. Experienced drivers will navigate attendees through the various courses, which highlight the off-road features of Jeep vehicles at the 2022 Detroit Auto Show.

Dinosaur and Off-Road Vehicle Encounters

Travel back in time to the Mesozoic Era at the new Dinosaur and Off-Road Vehicle Encounters at the Detroit Auto Show, a Jurassic walk-thru experience featuring life-like and life-size dinosaurs, including T-Rex, Velociraptor and Stegosaurus, just to name a few.

A perfect complement to the rugged off-road SUVs and trucks on display throughout the show and in the themed-area, Dinosaur and Off-Road Vehicle Encounters will be featured daily inside the Huntington Place Ballroom.  The dinosaur experience will premiere on Charity Preview night, Sept. 16.

See over 80 Massive Dinosaurs!

This fun, prehistoric world will include a collection of more than 80 massive dinosaurs ranging from babies to some creatures standing over 28 feet tall and spanning over 60 feet long.  It will also feature a long list of interactive and educational activities, including Story Time, hands-on crafts, and fossil digs, in addition to an animatronic Dinosaur Band and realistic dinosaur babies and dinosaurs roaming throughout.

Ticket Info: An auto show ticket is required for admission into Dinosaur Encounters at the Detroit Auto Show. Additional activity tickets will be available for purchase for themed rides inside the exhibit, including T-Rex ATV rides and Dinosaur Scooters.


Drone Show

Charity Preview attendees will also enjoy an all-new spectacle over the skies of Detroit’s riverfront, featuring 300-400 drones flying 200 feet high and boasting 900 lumens of light each.  Sponsored by Visit Detroit, the drone show, which will be able to be viewed from three miles away, is scheduled for 9:30 p.m. Charity Preview night, with two repeat performances on opening day of the Public Show, Saturday, Sept. 17 at 9 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 18 at 9 p.m.


DTE's EV Garage and Energy Den

Head over to Beacon Park to experience the latest in EV technologies.  Beacon Park is located on Grand River and First Street and open to the public every day from 6 a.m. until 10 p.m.

Flintmobile

No prehistoric experience would be complete without seeing how “the modern Stone Age Family” drove around the town of Bedrock. On loan from LeMay - America’s Car Museum in Tacoma, Wash., Fred Flintstone’s original car, built by George Barris for the Universal Studios 1994 feature motion picture “The Flintstones,” will be on display at the Dinosaur and Off-Road Vehicle Encounter. The vehicle continues to fascinate audiences and celebrates the cartoon first broadcast by Hanna-Barbera in 1960.

Monster Truck Throwdown

Complete with Bigfoot #20, the world’s first battery-powered Monster Truck, Monster Truck Throwdown will entertain and amaze auto show audiences daily in Hart Plaza. Touching all the senses and enjoyed by all ages, Monster Truck Throwdown presents Monster Truck Car Crush Exhibitions by Bigfoot #20, Sinistar, and Raminator, Freestyle Motocross performances, and world-renowned Monsters on display including Bigfoot #1, the original Monster Truck that started the worldwide phenomenon and Showtime, Michigan’s iconic “Motor City Monster” seen at Cobo Hall and the Silverdome in the 1980s.

Ram Truck Territory

Professional drivers will provide auto show attendees with an exciting ride as they go through a series of steel culverts that showcase ride-and-handling capability and suspension options. Riders will also feel the traction and experience hill descent technology on the iconic Ram Mountain, a 13-foot high, 30-foot long course element with 30-degree approach and departure angles. Technology will be displayed as the drivers highlight the 360-degree camera technology, class-exclusive four-corner air ride suspension, multi-function tailgate, 12.1” touchscreen and acoustic NVH features.

Round One Gaming Lab

Experience luxury gaming in a unique 26-foot climate-controlled, theater-style arcade on wheels that will be located in Hart Plaza. (six years of age and older)

Founded by local Detroiters Tyrell Slappey, Terrance Crowell and Markita Richardson, Round One Gaming Lab is a mobile gaming arcade featuring five 50-inch televisions, equipped with PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch, in addition to hundreds of games to choose from. Two 50-inch televisions located on the outside of the Round One Gaming Lab will allow for additional participants to join in the gaming fun at the auto show.

Street Course Ride-and-Drives

Experience a street course Ride-and-Drive along a portion of the 2023 Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix downtown circuit.

Must have a valid U.S. license to drive vehicles.

Take-A-Spin

Six generations of Ford Mustangs have ended their cross-country trek from Tacoma, Wash., to Detroit, bringing the “pony cars” back to their roots as part of “The Drive Home” organized by America’s Automotive Trust and the North American International Auto Show (aka Detroit Auto Show).  The two announced today “The Drive Home” will include a rare opportunity for Detroit Auto Show and Cars & Community visitors to jump in the passenger seat and “Take-A-Spin” in one of these vintage Mustangs on Saturday, Sept. 17. 


Participants must show an auto show and/or Cars & Community ticket to board the vehicles.  Rides will be given to guests that meet the height requirement (44’’ or 3’6”) and do not require a child car seat or booster seat.  Children under 16 need an adult present to participate. 


World's Largest Duck

It’s no ordinary duck, but it’s a perfect fit to bring attention to one of Detroit’s greatest assets, its riverfront. The “World Largest Rubber Duck” will be on display in Hart Plaza throughout the auto show. An ideal backdrop for social media engagement, the lovable waterfowl is 61 feet high and weighs in at over 30,000 pounds. Look for some surprises from the Jeep brand and the social movement of “ducking” other Jeep owners (#duckduckjeep).
