  • Opening Weekend, NAIAS Draws 215,836 Car Lovers

    First day attendance at NAIAS was the best in six years, and opening weekend overall saw 215,836 people come through the doors, eclipsing last year by more than 7,000. Enthusiasts lined the concourse long before the show opened, anxiously waiting to see the 55 product premieres the media and industry had seen just days before. It was also a weekend for the whole family with 750-plus vehicles, virtual reality immersion activities, connected car rides and parades of cars and local stars. Next up: Photo Day at NAIAS on Tuesday, Jan. 20 with early 8 a.m. access for ticketholders with cameras, smartphones or tablets. “Say cheese.”

    From big, bad supercars to luxury vehicles you dream about, NAIAS 2015 captured the attention of the world with 51 product introductions at Press Preview. There were big pickups, high-performance muscle cars, hybrids, plug-ins and even driverless entries; all tallied up for a list of 48 worldwide and three North American reveals.

    Detroit’s world stage is set to raise the curtain on what’s expected to be more than 45 worldwide and North American vehicle intros. While the list of intros is still under wraps, teasers suggest the Toyota Tacoma and Mirai fuel cell vehicle, Nissan Titan, Chevrolet Volt, Ford Fiesta, Audi Q7, Acura NSX, BMW 6 Series and Lexus GS F, Maserati Ghibli Ermenegildo Zegna concept and Alfieri 2+2 concept, just to name a few, will debut at NAIAS.
